Starting in the Derbyshire town of Ashbourne, this start is longer that the alternative route to Buxton but takes in some classic sights of the White Peak. The route leaves Ashbourne through the Tissington Trial disused railway tunnel and passes Thorpe Cloud in the way into Dove Dale. It continues along the River Dove through Milldale, Wolscote Dale and Beresford Dale to Hartington. It continues along the River Dove past Pilsbury, through Crowdicote and over Chrome Hill on the way to Buxton Pavilion Gardens and the Opera House.
