1a. Leek to Buxton

Starting in the Staffordshire town of Leek, this start to A Pennine Odyssey passes Tittesworth Water reservoir and along The Roaches to Bearstone Rock. It then follows Black Brook and River Dane to Three Shires Head and then across moorland with poorly discernible path over Cheeks Hill to Dane Head and Axe Edge Moor. Heading into Buxton the route passes Buxton Country Park, detours to take in the view from Solomon’s Temple, passes Poole’s Cavern and into Buxton Pavilion Gardens to the Opera House.

The guidebook provides a short alternative route from Manor Farm to Three Shires Head.
